Tom Hutcheson is a farmers son from Fife in Scotland. After finishing his secondary education at the Edinburgh Academy, he completed degrees in Agricultural Science at the University of Aberdeen graduating in 1988 and Law form the University of Edinburgh graduating in 1991.
In 1994 Tom was admitted as a Solicitor by the Law Society of Scotland after completing his Legal Practice diploma and period of training at Morton Fraser Milligan WS in Edinburgh.
Following a period of overseas travel, Tom returned to Edinburgh to practice as a Litigation Solicitor with a busy practice representing NHS Hospital Trusts and Boards in a variety of high profile cases and Fatal Accident Inquiries.
In 2001 Tom graduated from the full-time MBA programme at the University of Edinburgh Business School where he was awarded the John McFarlane Prize for leadership.
After completing courses in Advanced Negotiation and Teaching Negotiation in the Organisation at Harvard Law School in Boston in 2003 and Commercial Mediation at Northwestern University in Chicago in 2004, Tom founded Exfacie Negotiation Consultants.
Through his consultancy Tom now delivers consultancy services to a variety of clients based in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and South East Asia.
In addition, Tom holds academic position at the University of Edinburgh Business School (Associate Lecturer) and the University of Dundee School of Law (Honorary Lecturer) and has recently completed his PhD at the University of Strathclyde School of Law.
Outside of his professional and academic life, Tom enjoys travel, running, reading, cooking and of course, his motorbike. Nafplio, Greece
