About

Tom is an experienced litigation lawyer who is a recognised specialist in the field of Negotiation, Mediation and Dispute Resolution. He provides training, consultancy and mediation services for a range of clients in the UK, Europe, the Middle East and South East Asia.

 

As well as lecturing Negotiation at the University of Edinburgh Business School and at the University of Dundee School of Law, Tom also provides corporate training services delivering courses internationally to organisations in the Oil & Gas, Law, Banking, Telecoms, Governmental, Engineering and Shipping sectors.

 

He completed his advanced negotiation training at Harvard Law School in Boston in 2003 and his accredittion as a mediator from Northwestern University in Chicago in 2004 after which he consolidated his training by working with some of the US’s top commercial mediators in Indianapolis and San Francisco.

 

As well as conducting commercial mediations through is consultancy business Exfacie Negotiation Consultants, he is also a founding member of the Eastern Mediterranean Mediation Association (EMMA) based in Athens where he also works.

Service

Tom offers a range of negotiation consultancy, training and mediation services to clients from all around the world.

 

Training - Tom provides both public seminars and in-house seminars at various locations around the world.

Courses are designed to suit the individual need of the client and generally last between 2 and 5 days.

 

Consultancy - Tom is available to assist business and organisations with negotiations negotiation or ongoing disputes. Generally this  involves undertaking a strategic analysis of the overall situation combined with detailed preparation work with the negotiation team and, if required, participation in the negotiation itself.

 

Mediation - Tom is an experienced Mediator who has undertaken over 40 commercial mediations in the UK, Europe and the US.

 

Research

Tom is engaged in an increasing amount of academic work and has recently completed his PhD under Prof Bryan Clark (Dean of the Faculty of Law at Strathclyde University) looking specifically at the perception of effective negotiation behaviour amongst lawyers.
